Engineering/maintenance facility is based at hangar located at Male’ International Airport. The hangar measures 59m X 33m and includes offices, stores and workshops. The clear working area available for housing aircraft is of steel construction with corrugated galvanized aluminium sheeting fixed on the roof and on the sides. The doors are movable and can be opened or closed as and when required.
Lighting in the hangar is provided by high voltage mercury bulbs, which can be lowered or raised to illuminate the floor. The lighting used is sufficient to carry out inspection and maintenance task. Fluorescent tube lights provide illuminations in the office, stores and work shop areas.
Lightning protection and obstruction lights, fire extinguishers are provided to fulfill safety requirements. Compressed air by a huge compressor capable of producing variable pressure is available to the hangar floor through steel piping fixed to the hangar structure. Adapters located at different locations within the hangar provide supply of compressed air.
The hangar and its working environment are protected from heavy storm rain and mist by adjustable sliding doors.
The airport power house supplies electricity. The voltages available to the hangar are of the specifications; 220- 240v, 50Hzac. The hangar facility also houses within its structure, two desalination plants, which can supply fresh water for washing and cleaning purposes, and for use at the rest rooms.
The first floor of the hangar houses all the supporting departments, which include planning, quality/technical records, materials/logistics and maintenance control.
